Fujifilm PH officials ordered arrested

A PASIG City court has ordered the arrest of six ranking officials of Fujifilm Philippines over charges of estafa.

In a one-page order issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 268 Presiding Judge Maria Cheryl Laqui-Ceguera on Friday, June 23, 2023, she said Ryo Nagaoka, Evan Reyes, Anil Jacob John also known as “Anil John,” John Paul Camarillo, Dinesh Mehra and Eric Koh should immediately be arrested, noting there is sufficient evidence to charge them of estafa.

"Wherefore, let a warrant of arrest be issued for the apprehension of all accused. Bail is set in the amount of PHP48,000 for each of the accused," the court ruling said.

The case stemmed from the complaint filed by Sunfu Solutions Inc. accusing the six officials of the said firm of criminal fraud and deceit by issuing a First Tier Distributor Certificate dated January 6, 2022, which authorized the complainant to distribute Fujifilm medical equipment for the OFW Hospital and Diagnostic Center in Pampanga.

After funding and exhausting the said transaction on behalf of Fujifilm, Sunfu later learned that the company also issued the said document to another bidder.

Sunfu said they were made to believe that the First Tier Distributor Certificate was exclusively issued to them.

The company said John told them that they will support whoever stands a good chance at winning the bidding while Reyes said they are supporting the other dealer for the transaction.

Sunfu is also expected to file a request for a hold departure order that would prevent the accused from leaving the country and evading prosecution. (SunStar Philippines)
