THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested television personality Jay Sonza, who has a standing arrest warrant for syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Assistant Director Glenn Ricarte confirmed on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
Ricarte said Sonza was arrested two weeks ago by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) while he was about to board his flight to Hong Kong.
During verification, the BI said it found a pending estafa case and a standing arrest warrant for syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment against Sonza, prompting them to prevent him from leaving the country.
Sonza was then turned over to the custody of the NBI.
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson Jayrex Bustinera confirmed that Sonza was transferred from the NBI to the Quezon City Jail quarantine facility in Payatas on August 3, 2023.
After his quarantine period, he will be transferred to his detention. (SunStar Philippines)
