SULU caretaker and PBA Party-list Representative Jericho Nograles clarified that Jolo, Sulu is not on total lockdown after the twin blasts that killed at least 21 people.
He said normal operations in the town resumed Tuesday, January 29, two days after the bombing that destroyed the Our Lady of Mount Carmel cathedral.
The twin blasts claimed 21 lives and wounded more than 100 others.
"Contrary to earlier reports, Jolo is not in total lockdown. Banks, schools, government, and commerce have resumed normal operations today," Nograles said.
He said the security protocol in place is the same protocol implemented five months ago, as the cathedral is "constantly under threat."
"The protocols have loosened or tightened depending on the intelligence gathered," Nograles added.
He urged the public to allow the investigators to report conclusive evidence and assured them that the government is doing everything.
"Our government is doing all it can to bring the perpetrators and terrorists to justice," Nograles said.
"Sulu has been resilient. And Sulu will survive," he added. (Keith A. Calayag/SunStar Philippines)
