Lingayen-Dagupan Archdiocese donates PCR lab equipment, test kits

NOT contented with offering prayers and assistance, the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan donated a unit of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing equipment and several testing kits to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).

In his Facebook post, Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas said the clergymen of the Archdiocese decided to make a donation that can directly help stem the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“This a collaborative effort of all the priests in the spirit of stewardship, which is called Pananabangan in the archdiocese,” said Villegas.

He said the donation is expected to allow the BGHMC to make an additional 360 tests per day.

It should be noted that the BGHMC is one of the 17 laboratories certified by the Department of Health (DOH) to do Covid-19 testing.

“When the pandemic is over, the PCR will be donated to a hospital in Dagupan City,” noted Villegas.

Prior to making the donation, the prelate noted how the priests have been quietly offering the faithful their daily Masses, sacrifices, and prayers.

He said they also continue tirelessly to go to the barangays with no internet access to offer the Church’s absolution and pardon for sins.

Lastly, Villegas said food bags and hygiene kits coming from various unknown donors are also regularly distributed. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
