THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Thursday, June 29, 2023 they have recorded a longer effusion of lava flow in the Mayon Volcano over the past 24 hours.

In its update, Phivolcs said the very slow effusion of lava flow of Mayon has reached 2.1 kilometers along Mi-isi Gully and 1.3 kilometers along Bonga Gully.

On Wednesday, the lava flow effusion is at about 1.6 and 1.2 kilometers in Mi-isi and Bonga Gullies, respectively.

Lava collapse in both gullies however remained within 3.3 kilometers from the crater.

From 107 volcanic earthquakes on June 27, it went down to one volcanic earthquake from 5 a.m. of June 28 to 5 a.m. of June 29.

Mayon’s rockfall events also slightly went down to 296 rockfall events from 372 on Wednesday.

The Phivolcs also recorded seven dome-collapse pyroclastic density current events and two lava front collapse pyroclastic density current events over the past 24 hours. It has emitted 595 tonnes of sulfur dioxide.

There was a moderate plume emission reaching up to 1000 meters tall, drifting to west northwest, north-northwest and northeast direction.

The volcano’s edifice remained inflated.

The Mayon Volcano has been under Alert Level 3 since June 8 which means intensified unrest and magmatic unrest.
