MOTORCYCLE riders living in the same household are no longer required to install barriers.

Joint Task Force Covid Shield commander Guillermo Eleazar said only riders not living in the same household are required to use barriers as approved by the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19.

He said the backrider must be an authorized person outside residence (Apor) or those working in industries allowed to open while the driver may or may not be an Apor.

The motorcycle must be privately owned and is not for hire.

The riders should also wear face masks and full-face helmets at all times.

The new protocols on pillion riding is applicable in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) starting August 19, 2020 and may also be applied in areas under modified GCQ.

“Local chief executives (in areas under MGCQ) have the discretion to adapt and/or implement the above guidelines according to the needs of their local situation,” said Eleazar. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
