THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) on Saturday, September 2, 2023, urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families in Cagayan Valley who were affected by Typhoon Egay to avail themselves of calamity assistance.
In a social media post, Owwa-Cagayan Valley is urging affected families in Cagayan Valley to apply online for the P3,000 calamity aid.
"Owwa is now accepting online applications for calamity assistance to OFWs or OFW beneficiary applicants from the following LGUs under state of calamity," said OWWA-Cagayan Valley.
The local government units (LGUs) covered are Cagayan municipalities of Abulug, Aparri, Calayan, Lallo, Claveria, Pamplona, Sanchez Mira, Sta. Ana, Sta. Praxedes and Gonzaga.
Eligible to apply are active Owwa members on or before July 27, 2023, which is the date of declaration of the state of calamity in their respective municipalities.
Owwa said applicants must ensure that the OFW's address matches the information in his/her membership record in the agency's database.
If the claimant is the OFW's next of kin, Owwa said applicants must make sure to attach complete, correct, clear and readable documents in the online applications.
Required in applying are a copy of the Passport (ID page with signature) for OFW applicants.
And for the next of kin, they must submit the passport of the OFW (ID page with signature), valid ID of claimant, proof of relationship (birth certificate if child, marriage contract if spouse), authorization letter of OFW with signature, and 2x2 ID picture.
Owwa said applications may be filed via https://calamity.owwa.gov.ph/ until October 27, 2023.
"After successful application, kindly wait to be evaluated. You will receive a call/text for the pay-out details," said Owwa.
