POLICE arrested on Wednesday morning, October 19, 2022, two "high-value" individuals who yielded P12 million worth of marijuana during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Brigadier General Jonnel Estomo identified the arrested suspects as Kenneth Hernay, 30, and Grant Dela Cruz, 24, during the operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Northern Police District (NPD).
Recovered during the operation were more or less 100 kilos of marijuana with an estimated worth of P12 million.
NPD Director Ponce Peñones Jr. said the suspects told them that the illegal contrabands were from Kalinga.
“Pangatlong byahe na daw nila ito. Unang byahe nila 20 kilos, then second 50 kilos after a week. Ang modus nila ang ginagamit nila paiba-ibang sasakyan,” he said.
(This is their third trip. They brought 20 kilos [of shabu] on their first trip, then 50 kilos after a week. They used different vehicles in their modus.)
“Ang karaniwang parokyano nila mga estudyante,” he added.
(Most of their patrons are students.)
He said the illegal drugs were being distributed in Metro Manila as well as neighboring provinces such as Bulacan.
Peñones said they recovered the list of individuals where the suspects were bringing the illegal drugs.
They are subject to follow-up operations.
Estomo ordered the conduct of an in-depth investigation to identify the other individuals involved in the transaction. (SunStar Philippines)
