Pharmally exec to stop attending Senate hearing
PHARMALLY Pharmaceutical Corporation director Linconn Ong on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, informed the Senate blue ribbon committee that he will no longer participate in the investigation on the deficiencies in the use of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic response fund by the Department of Health (DOH) flagged by the Commission on Audit (COA).
In a letter submitted to the committee, Ong said he will no longer participate with the hearings nor will he submit any more documents requested by the panel.
Ong, who is currently under the Senate custody, invoked his right to confidentiality under the Corporation Code of the Philippines.
Senator Franklin Drilon, one of the principal authors of the law, said it is not applicable in this case.
"There is nothing in the Corporation Code which would justify the withholding of the information we are asking for. These are matters of public interest,” he said.
Pharmally president Twinkle Dargani had a panic attack and also failed to attend the hearing, according to her brother, the firm’s treasurer, Mohit Dargani.
Senate blue ribbon committee chairman Senator Richard Gordon refused to accept the reason of her absence.
Pharmally administrative assistant Krizle Grace Mago, who is currently under the protective custody of the House of Representatives, attended the hearing. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
