PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas has tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrand Usana confirmed the test result on Thursday, March 11, 2021, but said Sinas was “okay” and asymptomatic.

"Yes po. But he is okay po. No cause for worry. Prayers na lang po muna para kay chief PNP," Usana said in a message to reporters.

Sinas will undergo mandatory quarantine at the Kiangan Hall in Camp Crame starting Thursday evening.

Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, PNP deputy chief for administration, will serve as officer-in-charge.

Sinas underwent a swab test on Thursday morning as part of preparations for an official trip to Palawan on the same day.

He also underwent swab testing on March 6 and March 9 as part of safety measures. Both were negative.

He was interviewed by media and attended the ceremonial turnover of a vehicle donated by the United States Embassy on Wednesday, March 10. (SunStar Philippines)
