AUTHORITIES destroyed P15 million worth of Marijuana plants in Kalinga over the past two days, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dionardo Carlos said on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

Carlos said police discovered 75,000 fully grown marijuana plants in eight areas in Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan.

These were destroyed on Friday, March 11 until March 12.

“All marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on-site, however, no cultivator was apprehended during the said operation,” said Carlos.

“This is a stern warning to those who are engaged in the illegal planting and sale of marijuana plants, appropriate court charges await all of you. We remain resolute in putting all of you behind bars,” he added.

Carlos said the operation was part of the PNP’s “summer offensive” against the cultivation of the prohibited plants. (SunStar Philippines)
