A parish priest in the province of Cagayan was shot dead on Sunday, April 29, by unknown gunman, a police official said.
Gattaran police chief Chief Inspector Rodel Tabunoc said Father Mark Anthony Ventura, parish priest of San Isidro Church, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Barangay Mabuno, Gattaran, Cagayan, around 8:15 a.m.
“Kakatapos lang magmisa ni father nang bigla siyang lapitan ng lone gunman wearing helmet at black jacket saka binaril. May isang lookout pa na siya naming driver ng motorsiklo na ginamit as getaway vehicle,” he said.
Tabunoc said Ventura’s remains was brought in Tuguegarao City.
He said the motive of the killing is yet to be identified. (SunStar Philippines)
