Remulla complains of cyberbullying

CAVITE 7th District Representative Jesus Crispin Remulla on Monday, July 6, 2020, said he has filed before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) a complaint against “cyberbullying” of House members in relation to the hearings on the ABS-CBN franchise.

The lawmaker drew flak online after he was caught writing a note while the Philippine national anthem was being played before the start of a hearing by the House committees on legislative franchises and good government and public accountability.

“I would like to tell the committee that today, after my experience for the past 10 days, or the past six days of being the subject of many organized attacks on social media, I have gone to the NBI to complain about the cyberbullying done to my person and the other members of the House,” Remulla said.

He alleged that there are internet trolls who have been hired to attack House members.

“Apparently, some people have employed troll farms to get to our organization. It goes without saying that most of us have an experience here about how these trolls are operating now,” Remulla said.

The lawmaker stressed that the hearings on issues against ABS-CBN is a constitutional duty of the Congress.

“I thought this wise because we are doing our job for this country, we are not doing this job for personal reasons,” Remulla said.

“This matter of scrutinizing a constitutional franchise, this franchise of ABS-CBN, is a constitutional duty. Ito ay tungkulin namin sa ilalim ng Saligang Batas,” he said. (Jove Moya/SunStar Philippines)
