THE Bicol Police Regional Office (PRO-5) has created a special investigating team to look into the killing of online reporter Jobert Balidoy Bercasio.
PRO-5 Director Bartolome Bustamante said he also ordered the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit 5 to examine the social media account of the victim and his recent posts as part of the ongoing investigation.
“PNP Bicol condemns in the strongest manner the brutal killing of the said media member. Thus, it will mobilize all means possible within the limits of the law to investigate and identify the culprit of the incidents and to give justice to the bereaved family,” he said.
Bercasio, 39, was gunned down in Barangay Cabid-an in Sorsogon City on Monday evening, September 14, 2020. He was on his way home on board his scooter.
Bercasio was affiliated with Balangibog News Online.
Based on the initial police report, armed men waylaid Bercasio and shot him four times, hitting different parts of his body. He died instantly.
