INCOMING President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has designated Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Spokesperson Colonel Ramon Zagala as the next commander of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) as well as his senior military assistant.

AFP public affairs office chief Colonel Jorry Baclor said Zagala was appointed in an acting capacity.

“Ang sabi sa akin ni Colonel Zagala is for issuance pa ang order, wala pa actually order, for issuance pa lang. Ang effectivity is 30 yata sabi n’ya kanina, kaya wala pang annoncement kasi alam mo naman sa atin, order talaga ‘yung kailangan,” he said in a message to reporters.

(Colonel Zagala told me that the order is still for issuance. There is no actual order, just for issuance. The effectivity is [June] 30, I think he said earlier. So there is no announcement yet because you know us, the order is really needed.)

Zagala was commissioned to the regular force in August 1994.

He has a master’s degree in National Security Administration. (SunStar Philippines)
