MANILA – The stretch of MacArthur Highway in Mabalacat City, Pampanga is ready for travelers, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon led the inspection of the remaining repair works on the highway on Holy Wednesday, to ensure it is ready and safe for motorists returning to the province this Holy Week.
He went to the stretch of Jasa Road in San Fernando, Pampanga, to remove illegally-parked vehicles and trucks that are causing obstruction on the road.
MacArthur Highway is a busy segment of the national road connecting Clark and NLEX (North Luzon Expressway).
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. earlier ordered that roads and major highways be “obstruction-free” to ensure smooth travel for motorists, shorten road trips, and save on gasoline and diesel.
Meanwhile, the DPWH said cleaning, dredging and desilting of major waterways nationwide continues this Holy Week to ensure that waterways are clean before the rainy season arrives.
Dredging and desilting are underway in Metro Manila, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Naga, Cebu, Bacolod and Maguindanao. (PNA)
