PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has cast his vote for the 2025 national and local elections.
Marcos, along with his mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, son Ilocos Norte Representative Sandro Marcos, and sister Irene voted early at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
As of 7:09 a.m., 34,494 or 91.92 percent of all the polling centers in the country are already operational, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said the delay in opening of other polling centers particularly in Northern Mindanao, Cordilleras, Davao, and Bangsamoro were due to technical glitches and power interruption.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson Rex Laudiangco said the opening of polls has so far been orderly, particularly during the early voting hours for elderly, pregnant women and persons with disabilities.
The Comelec earlier said there were a total of 69,673,655 registered voters for the 2025 NLE.
Fajardo said 159 individuals were arrested for the violation of liquor ban.
The PNP deployed a total of 163,621 PNP personnel for the maintenance of peace and order during the polls. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
