THE Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), LRT-2 and MRT-3 is offering free rides to commuters from April 30 to May 3, 2025, a way for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to honor the country’s workforce amid the observance of Labor Day on May 1.

In a press conference, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro defended the free ride offer amid criticisms that it is part of the administration’s gimmick to woo the public ahead of the 2025 national and local elections.

Over the past years, the government, under the Marcos admin, would often give free rides on the day of the occasion covering only a particular sector. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
