MOTORISTS must brace for monstrous traffic on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) due to ongoing repairs to the Marilao Interchange Bridge in the Bulacan area, which was struck by an 18-wheeler truck.
In a statement, the NLEX said the repair, which led to the closure of two of the four lanes at the northbound portion, may take about two weeks.
On March 19, an 18-wheeler truck struck the Marilao Interchange Bridge, severely damaging two of its girders.
“These girders have been temporarily supported for safety, but they will need to be completely replaced. We expect the necessary repairs to be completed within two weeks,” the NLEX said.
“During this time, motorists should expect heavy traffic in the area as we work diligently to complete the repairs, prioritizing the safety of all drivers,” it added.
A zipper lane will be opened in the southbound direction to help alleviate congestion in affected lanes.
The firm assured to expedite repairs in order to restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
“To manage traffic more effectively, intensified traffic management measures will be implemented during this period. We have also posted alternative routes on our social media pages to provide motorists with additional options,” the NLEX said. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
