MANILA – The National Housing Authority (NHA) distributed free rice to families in resettlement communities in Bulacan province and Valenzuela City as part of the agency’s 50th anniversary celebration.

The free rice distribution was among the many programs lined up by the NHA in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, in line with the "Bagong Pilipinas" (New Philippines) goal of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Bulacan District Office Officer-In-Charge Ar. Ma. Jeriel Michael led the recent distribution of five kilos of rice to the beneficiaries of San Jose del Monte Heights in Bulacan through the directive of NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, according to a news release Sunday.

On the other hand, Assistant General Manager Alvin Feliciano spearheaded the same activity in Disiplina Village Bignay, Valenzuela as part of the partnership between the NHA and the National Food Authority (NFA) to support housing communities nationwide.

Residents said the rice assistance provided much-needed relief for their daily expenses.

“Maraming salamat po NHA, sa tulong na ipinaabot ninyo po sa amin. Malaking bagay napo ang limang kilong bigas para sa aming pamilya (Thank you very much NHA for the help you have extended to us. The five kilos of rice is big help for our family),” "Sheila," a beneficiary at the Malabon Waterways Relocation, said.

A mother of four and a long-time resident of Disiplina Village Bignay, "Anita" also expressed her gratitude.

“Napakalaking tulong po ito sa amin, lalo na’t may mga araw na kapos sa budget. Salamat po sa NHA, kay GM Joeben Tai, at kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa patuloy ninyong pagmamalasakit sa amin (This is a great help to us, especially since there are days when the budget is tight. Thank you to NHA GM Joeben and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for your continued concerns for us),” she said.

Tai said the activity aligns with the importance of going beyond housing provision for its beneficiaries.

“Hangad namin na sa simpleng five kilong bigas, amin kayong natulungan. At sa selebrasyon ng aming ika-50 anibersaryo, sinisiguro naming maramdaman ninyo ang pagkalinga ng aming ahensya at ng pamahalaan (We hope that with a simple five kilos of rice, we have helped you. And in the celebration of our 50th anniversary, we ensure that you feel the care of our agency and the government),” Tai said. (PR)
