Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV will serve as officer-in-charge of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) following the appointment of former Administrator Ariel Nepomuceno as the new Bureau of Customs (BOC) chief.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro made the announcement Wednesday in a press briefing in Malacañang.
Alejandro also serves as OCD’s deputy administrator for administration.
OCD is responsible for administering a comprehensive national civil defense and disaster risk reduction and management program.
It serves as the executive arm and secretariat of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Nepomuceno took his oath as the new Customs chief before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday.
He previously served as deputy commissioner of the BOC's Enforcement Group from 2013 to 2017. (PNA)
