INDIVIDUALS seeking employment in Oman will now undergo a more streamlined process for their mandatory medical examinations and visa procedures.
Based on Advisory No. 42-2026, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the Ministry of Labor of the Sultanate of Oman has announced the implementation of a new Medical Examination and Visa Procedures System for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
“Under the new system, migrant workers are required to register with the designated medical center and complete the required medical examination and visa processing procedures prior to the issuance of an employment visa,” said the DMW.
The agency said the designated facilities will provide a centralized and more efficient system for biometric fingerprint registration, medical examinations, employment contract and document attestation, and other pre-departure facilitation services.
The DMW said the facilities will also provide orientation and awareness sessions on workers’ rights and obligations, as well as assistance in opening bank accounts and securing Omani mobile numbers before deployment.
“This is designed to streamline the process of recruitment for workers from the Philippines and to improve the efficiency and quality of services provided,” said the DMW.
The department said the implementation of the new system will not impose any additional costs on prospective OFWs.
“All related expenses shall be borne by the accredited recruitment agencies and/or foreign employers,” said the DMW. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
