MANILA – Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) launched services between Cauayan, Isabela and Manila on Wednesday.
An 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8-400 Next Generation aircraft took off from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at 1:25 p.m., and was expected to arrive at Cauayan Airport at 2:30 p.m.
"At Philippine Airlines, we are happy to be part of a story of economic progress in Northern Luzon and look forward to working with our partners and stakeholders in the local government and community, in the continuing task of building up tourism, business growth and greater connectivity for the benefit of all Filipinos," said PAL Express president Rabbi Vincent Ang during the send-off ceremony.
Cauayan City Mayor Caesar Dy Jr., who also attended the ceremony, said he sees the new route would spur economic growth in the city and the province.
The new daily services are an alternative to the over 10 hours of land travel and also promote Cauayan as the gateway to Isabela.
From Cauayan, the daily flights are scheduled at 3:25 p.m. and would arrive in Manila at 4:40 p.m. (PNA)
