MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has to study the proposed measures on anti-political dynasty and divorce before taking a stand on the issues, Malacañang said on Thursday.

This, after the bills prohibiting political dynasties and proposing absolute divorce were refiled in the 20th Congress.

Asked if Marcos would support the measures, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said it would depend on the provisions of the refiled bills.

Tignan po natin (It would be better if they would give the full details of the bill because it is difficult now for the President to say yes or no. It would be better if they would give the full details because it might be better for our country. Let’s see),” she told reporters.

As for the anti-political dynasty bill, Castro said everything should be balanced, noting that Marcos is “for the country and for the leaders and officials who want to serve.”

Castro said Marcos has “no clear stance” on divorce yet, as he still needs to see the content of the bill.

The proposal, she said, needs to be studied, adding that it might get support if the provisions are “good” and the Church supports it.

“So, tingnan po natin at muli kung ano ang magiging maganda para sa taumbayan (let's see what will happen and what will be good for the country),” Castro said.

But it would be better, and that is what the President wants, for us to strengthen the good relationship between husband and wife, to extend it further so that each couple can resolve their problems so that their family will be all right, not just for the two of them but for their children),” she added.
