AMID continuous flooding in several parts of the country, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is offering the public a leptospirosis benefit package.
In a social media post, PhilHealth declared its readiness to assist flood-hit individuals at risk of leptospirosis.
“While we cannot stop the rain, having the right knowledge helps us take immediate action when necessary,” said PhilHealth.
“If you waded through floodwaters, do not neglect your health,” it added.
The state-run health insurer said those who waded through floodwaters may visit Yakap clinics for medical consultation and laboratory tests, if needed.
If they are prescribed doxycycline, PhilHealth said they can obtain the antibiotic free of charge at Gamot facilities.
For moderate to severe leptospirosis cases, PhilHealth said its benefit packages range from P170,000 to P411,000.
The benefit package covers room and board, diagnostic imaging, medications, laboratory tests, and oxygen therapy.
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, the Department of Health (DOH) warned the public about the threat of leptospirosis amid the torrential rains and inclement weather.
