THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has assured readiness for the conduct of security operations during the peace rally being set by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on January 13, 2025.

In a press conference on Monday, January 6, PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has already coordinated with the religious group regarding the event.

She said that based on the discussion, INC members from the National Capital Region, Central Luzon and Calabarzon will converge at the Liwasang Bonifacio on January 13.

“Doon naman sa ibang mga regions may mga na-identify na mga areas like ‘yung mga freedoms parks din nila at yung iba mga sports complex,” said Fajardo.

(In other regions, there were identified areas like their freedom parks and the others are sports complexes.)

“So ‘yung final location and oras, this will be simultaneous nationwide peace rally ng INC and the PNP is ready to provide the necessary police assistance doon sa gagawin nilang malawakang aktibidad,” she added.

The INC earlier said that the gathering will be a show of support to the pronouncement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. against the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Marcos earlier said that he urged the House of Representatives not to pursue an impeachment case against Duterte as it will not be beneficial to the Filipino people.

At present, three impeachment complaints were filed before the House of Representatives against Duterte.

The members of the Makabayan bloc set a meeting with the filers and endorsers of impeachment complaints against Duterte on Wednesday, January 8, to get the process started. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
