THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, strengthened the activation of the National Election Monitoring and Action Center (Nemac) ahead of the 2025 national and local elections (NLE).
The Nemac will serve as the PNP’s “war room” before, during and after Election Day on Monday, May 12.
Aside from real-time monitoring of the situation across the country to ensure immediate response, Nemac will also receive reports from the public through 911.
Each report is forwarded to the concerned PNP unit for response.
The PNP will deploy a total of 163,621 police personnel for the maintenance of peace and order during, before and after the election.
The National Capital Region had the most deployed police forces, with more than 22,000, followed by Central Luzon and Calabarzon, with over 12,000 deployments.
In an interview, PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil said they are 100 percent ready for security operations, including the anticipated increase in travelers across various parts of the country.
“Ang directive natin doon sa mga regional commanders natin going to the station commanders. I want them to go down, no violence. We use all the means na ipahinto natin lahat ng violence. Walang dapat na killings, make sure na it will be done, honest, orderly and peaceful elections for this midterm 2025 kaya sabi ko nga lahat ng mga pulis natin bababa,” Marbil said.
(Our directive to the regional commanders, extending down to the station commanders, is clear: I want them to be hands-on and ensure there is no violence. We will use all available means to prevent violence. There should be no killings. We must ensure that the elections are honest, orderly, and peaceful for the 2025 midterms. That’s why, as I said, all of our police officers will be deployed on the ground.)
“Wala po tayong namo-monitor na threat. Ang sinasabi ko, lahat ng mga pulis will help in this election. Ang goal natin, zero violence. We have a goal that really, zero violence. we want to make sure this midterm election will become honest, orderly and peaceful, yun yung goal natin. We have a goal. May hinahabol kami na talagang people can vote freely,” he added.
(We are not monitoring any threats. What I’m saying is that all of our police officers will help in this election. Our goal is zero violence. We are committed to achieving zero violence. We want to ensure that this midterm election will be honest, orderly, and peaceful — that’s our goal. We have a clear objective: to ensure that people can vote freely.)
Marbil warned police officers and commanders who will fail to perform their duties and responsibilities.
He also warned the public against calling the 911 hotline for pranks, noting that calls can be tracked.
The PNP has been on full alert since May 3. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
