PNP: Roadside blast in Maguindanao del Sur under control, no injuries reported

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, said a reported roadside explosion in Maguindanao del Sur is under control, with no casualties recorded.

In a statement, the PNP said the incident occurred in Barangay Sapakan, Rajah Buayan.

Initial reports from the Rajah Buayan Municipal Police Station showed that no individuals were injured, although a police mobile unit sustained minor damage.

Authorities said police personnel immediately responded to the scene and secured the area following the explosion.

The PNP added that coordination is ongoing with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, particularly the 34th Infantry Battalion, while the Post-Explosion and Canine Unit continues to investigate the nature and source of the blast.

As part of heightened security measures, police have intensified checkpoint operations and visibility patrols in the area to prevent any related incidents and ensure public safety.

Despite the incident, authorities said there is no indication of a broader threat.

The PNP urged residents to remain calm but vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
