VICE President Sara Duterte is back in the country from Hong Kong.
In a statement, the Office of the Vice President said Duterte arrived in the country at 3:21 p.m. “following a personal trip to Hong Kong last weekend.”
“The Vice President is accompanied by her children and will address any relevant matters at the appropriate time,” the OVP said.
“We kindly ask for your understanding as she attends to these matters,” it added.
Duterte, along with his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, attended a campaign rally in Hong Kong over the weekend.
Upon his arrival in the Philippines on Monday morning, former President Duterte was arrested on the orders of the International Criminal Court, which is currently investigating the alleged crime against humanity in the country during the implementation of the latter’s drug war.
The 79-year-old Duterte insisted that his arrest has no legal basis, saying the ICC no longer have jurisdiction over the country.
In a social media post, former President Duterte’s younger daughter, Veronica, said they are being “illegally detained” and that police forces are not allowing her father to seek medical attention “he badly needs.”
In a letter from a physician shared by Veronica, the doctor said Duterte’s glucose level shot up to 328. Duterte was advised for hospital admission. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
