THE Department of Education (DepEd) has declared June 16, 2025, Monday, as the formal opening of School Year (SY) 2025-2026 for public schools across the country, marking the return to the pre-pandemic school calendar.
Under DepEd Order 12, Series of 2025, the agency said classes in public schools for SY 2025-2026 will run from June 16 to March 31, 2026, which consists of 197 class days inclusive of end-of-school-year rites.
Enrollment and Brigada Eskwela activities are set from June 9 to 13.
The DepEd said private schools and state, or local universities and colleges, as well as Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs) may also adopt this school calendar.
If not, they are still bound to follow the required number of class days and opening of the school year under Republic Act 11480, which mandates that a school year shall consist of not more than 220 class days. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
