DETAINED former Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr. was hospitalized on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025, for severe stomach pains.
Teves' legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, told reporters the former lawmaker experienced stomach pains since midnight at Camp Bagong Diwa.
"He was given medical attention at 5 in the morning and transported to the hospital an hour ago," Topacio said.
Topacio withheld the hospital's name for security reasons.
Teves faces multiple charges. These include 10 counts of murder, 13 counts of frustrated murder, and four counts of attempted murder before Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 51.
He also faces murder cases before Manila RTC Branches 12 and 15, and Bayawan RTC Branch 63.
Teves is charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives at Manila RTC Branch 12, and a case under the Terrorist Financing, Prevention, and Suppression Act before Quezon City RTC Branch 77.
The charges include the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and several civilians on March 4, 2023. Three other individuals were killed in the province in 2019, including former Negros Oriental board member Miguel Dungog.
Teves was arrested in Dili City, Timor-Leste, on May 27 and deported back to the Philippines. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
