THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, reported that it has already surpassed its one million target of voter registrants after just five days, with five more days remaining in the voter registration period.
Based on data released by the Comelec, there are now a total of 1,001,970 applicants in just the first five days (August 1 to 5) of the voter registration period.
A total of 145,226 individuals registered on Day 1, followed by 211,908 on Day 2; 213,094 on Day 3; 199,244 on Day 4; and 232,498 on Day 5.
Calabarzon recorded the highest number of applicants with 138,843, followed by Central Luzon with 113,904.
In the National Capital Region, a total of 79,517 individuals sought to become registered voters.
In an interview, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said they are ecstatic over the milestone reached by the poll body.
"Pinakamadami ito sa napakaiksing panahon sa kasaysayan ng Comelec. Natutuwa kami na sa limang araw ay may higit sa 1 million aplikante na tayo," said Garcia.
(This is the highest number in such a short period in Comelec's history. We’re glad that in just five days, we already have over 1 million applicants.)
With the initial target met, he said they will be raising their target number of applicants.
"Inaasahan natin sa mga nalalabing limang araw ay mas dadami pa. Siguro aabot tayo ng 1.3 million hanggang 1.5 million na magpaparehistro," said Garcia.
(We expect the number to increase in the remaining five days. We might reach around 1.3 to 1.5 million registrants.)
