Marcos issued Memorandum Circular 81, allowing work-from-home arrangement in government agencies from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 16, Maundy Wednesday, and suspension of work from 12 p.m. onwards “to provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe Maundy Thursday (April 17) and Good Friday (April 18).”
April 17 and 18 were declared regular holidays in observance of the Holy Week.
“However, agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations under usual working arrangements and render the necessary services,” stated the memo.
“The adoption of work from home and suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers,” it added. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
