40 schools joining 20th Unigames

ABOUT 40 colleges and universities have confirmed participation in the 20th University Games (Unigames) in Bacolod City on October 24 to 30, said president Roger Banzuela.

Competing in the 13 events are Adamson University, Arellano University, Ateneo de Davao University, Central Philippine University, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, Cor Jesus College-Davao City, De La Salle-Araneta, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, De La Salle-Lipa, De La Salle University Dasmarinas, De La Salle-Manila, Far Eastern University, Father Saturnino Urios University-Butuan City, Hercor College, Holy Angel University-Pampanga;

Holy Cross of Davao city, Jose Maria College (Davao), Naga College Foundation, Rizal Technological University, San Beda College, Southwestern University, St. Theresa College-Surigao, University of Mindanao-Davao, University of Mindanao-Tagum;

University of Northern Philippines, University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta, University of Sto. Tomas, University of Immaculate Concepcion, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Xavier University-Cagayan, and Iloilo Doctors’ College.

Also joining are Negros Occidental-based Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, STI West Negros University, Riverside College, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, VMA Global College-Bacolod, Colegio de Sta. Ana- Victorias, and host-University of St. La Salle.

Featured events include athletics (Panaad Park and Stadium), badminton (Pohang Badminton Center), basketball (STI WNU, Silay City and VMAGC), chess (STI WNU), football (Ayala North Point, Panaad and CHMSC-Talisay), karatedo (VMA-GC), lawn tennis (Montevista Tennis Court), sepak takraw (UNO-R covered court), swimming (Panaad swimming), table tennis (Amity Table Tennis Center), taekwondo (VMA GC gym), volleyball (Bays Center, Bacolod Tay Tung High School, and UNO-R) and beach volleyball (Bantayan Park-Bago City).

Delegates are expected to arrive starting October 23. The technical meeting and opening ceremony will take place on October 24. Some participants usually depart early from home to enjoy the Masskara Festival./HGD
