Banana firm worker nabbed in drug bust

AN EMPLOYEE of a banana company was arrested Friday evening in a drug bust at Carlos P. Garcia Highway, near Panadero Bakeshop in Buhangin, Davao City.

Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, Buhangin police station chief, identified the suspect as Noel Patadillo Montecalvo, 33, an employee of the Sumifru Philippines and a resident of the Jade Valley Subdivision in Buhangin.

An investigation conducted by the Buhangin police showed that the suspect was arrested about 9:20 p.m. Friday after he handed a sachet of suspected crystal meth (shabu) to a police officer who posed as a buyer.

Recovered from the possession of the suspect were three sachets of shabu and a P500 marked money.

The suspect is currently detained at the Buhangin Police Station and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Driz said that the drug bust operation was properly conducted in coordination with Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency.
