Lacson disappointed with NPC meeting

NEGROS Occidental Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson seemed dissatisfied with the result of the meeting of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) in Manila last Tuesday.

"We expected too much. It did not achieve much as far as the party members of Negros Occidental is concerned," Lacson said in a text message to the media.

He added that the meeting "turned out to be a meet Grace Poe" meeting, which, he said, they have already done in Negros.

"We were hoping that some policy issues would be discussed," Lacson said.

The vice governor had publicly expressed his support for the presidential bid of Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

Poe and close ally Senator Francis Escudero attended the NPC meeting, where 50 members from the Visayas attended.

Those from the province were Bacolod Lone District Rep. Evelio Leonardia, Bacolod Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco, Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Bascon, Sipalay City Mayor Oscar Montilla, Bago City Ramon Torres and Vice Mayor Nicholas Yulo, 6th District Rep. Mercedes Alvarez, and Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano.

It was also attended by NPC president and House Deputy Speaker Giorgidi Aggabao and party chairman Faustino Dy Jr.
