Village chief says Ombud case politically motivated

ESTAFANIA Village Chief Jerry Tingson said he did not terminate focal officer Ma. Fe Santillan, adding that the administrative complaint she filed before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas is politically-motivated.

Santillan filed an administrative complaint against Tingson, Councilman Nelson Pineda, Treasurer Leon Reboton and Technical Officer Remo Cordero after her appointment was not renewed after June 2014.

Tingson said the complaint of Santillan was forwarded by the Ombudsman to the City Prosecutor’s Office and they have already submitted their evidences and counter-affidavits.

Santillan filed a complaint for alleged grave abuse of authority against them claiming that she was terminated her from work as focal officer.

However, Tingson said Santillan’s allegation has no basis. He did not terminate her but her appointment as focal officer in the barangay covering January to June 2014 already ended to which she had agreed with conformity.

They tried to reshuffle or find her a suited position after her appointment ended but she went against them due to political opposition, Tingson said.

He added that barangay officials represented by him through a resolution filed oral defamation charges against Santillan due to her alleged rude behavior during their barangay assembly in October 2014.

Santillan is scheduled for an arraignment on September 1 for the charges filed against her, he said. (CNC)
