ONE person died while six others were wounded when a vehicle of the Department of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOH-Armm) crashed on a house in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police reported Wednesday.
Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the lone fatality as Langka Sabiran, a resident of the village of Tictapul.
Wounded were Sabiran’s family members, namely, Toto, Ayang, and Maulidan. The other three wounded were also DOH-Armm personnel, namely, Sambas Mabang, Annisa Mangadang, and Jeremy Toledo.
Samuddin said the van of the DOH-Armm was traveling to Zamboanga City coming from Cotabato City when it crashed into the residence of the Sabirans around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. The house was located along the road.
Investigation showed the van crashed into Sabiran’s house after the driver dozed off while driving.
Samuddin said the injured victims, including the passengers, were rushed to the lying-in hospital in the nearby village of Vitali.
Dr. Kadil Sinolinding, DOH-Armm secretary, has extended immediate assistance to the Sabiran family since what happened “was purely an accident.” (Bong Garcia)
