1 killed, 7 hurt in Mansilingan road crash

A MAN was killed while seven others were injured in a road accident on Murcia Road, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City early Sunday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Mark Anthony Dianongco, 34, of Benares Street, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Injured were Julie Bernalde, Lora Bernalde, and their five siblings, all minors, and residents of Barangay Minoyan, Murcia.

Inspector Roger Ong, head of Traffic Management Unit (TMU), said at around 2:50 a.m. while Dianongco was driving his Mitsubishi Lancer, his vehicle collided with a Nissan Patrol with plate number PLK 323 driven by Julie Bernalde.

Investigation showed that Julie tried to overtake a truck and took Dianongco’s lane, Ong said.

He said Dianongco and the driver and passengers of the Nissan Patrol were all rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center. At about 6:30 a.m., Dianongco died.

Traffic investigators are still conducting further investigation on the said accident. (MAP)
