10-hour brownout set in Zamboanga

THE Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) announced that there will be a 10-hour power shutdown on Sunday, July 30, in this city.

Zamcelco said the power shutdown is to pave the way for maintenance activities of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippine (NGCP) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The NGCP will undertake preventive maintenance of the 100-megavolt ampere power transformer at Pitogo sub-station and transfer of conductors from the temporary to the newly-constructed structure (Tower No. 56) along the Zamboanga-Pitogo 138-kilovolt Lines 1 and 2.

Also to be shutdown is the 69-KV lines from Pitogo-Tulungatung, Pitogo-Tumaga and Pitogo-San Jose Gusu.

“Specific areas that will be affected are determined by the electric cooperative,” the NGCP said in an advisory released through Zamcelco.

Zamcelco said the areas that will be affected are those covered by the Recodo, Ayala, and San Jose Gusu sub-stations.

The NGCP said it will exert all efforts to restore power earlier or as scheduled.

Meanwhile, Zamcelco announced that it will conduct its generator set simulation at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, which will be witnessed by official of Zamcelco and the City Government.

The power company has purchased eight units of generator sets with two-megawatt capacity each. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
