A 107-YEAR-OLD woman from Talisay City received P50,000 from the Office of the Vice Governor yesterday, a cash incentive provided for in the Centenarians Act of 2016.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale handed the check to Rosita Montecillo Codilla, in compliance with the law that mandates local government units to grant benefits and privileges to Filipinos who manage to reach 100 years old.
Codilla, a mother of four, was crowned Miss Sogod in 1927. She has been living in Talisay City since she got married.
Dina Calipay, Codilla’s youngest daughter and the one taking care of her, said Codilla eats vegetables every day and that at 107, Codilla can still write and sing. (Angel Mae Bellita, USJ-R Intern)
