14 bolt Jolo jail; 3 killed

FOURTEEN inmates bolted the Jolo Municipal Police Station in the province of Sulu early Sunday, July 16, a police official said.

Sulu Provincial Police Director Mario Buyuccan said the breakout was discovered around 1:25 a.m., prompting the authorities to conduct a pursuit operation.

Of the 14 escapees, three were killed while another one was injured during the hunt.

Buyuccan said 10 escapees are still at large and are being subjected to hot pursuit operations.

Authorities identified the slain escapees as Julbig Alinjani, Budda Basali, and Midzfar Sabli. Wounded and immediately recaptured was Gummi Maimbung.

Those still at large were Makrim Habbisi, Alsimar Basali, Nasir Maldam, Albin Alibasa, Julhaber Sariol, Benjie Pandoga, Mustafa Sarapuddin, Haber Kasim, Benjamin Baker, and Tano Hadjula.

No immediate information was available on the escapees’ cases.

The police have coordinated with the other law enforcement units to assist in the pursuit operations for the immediate recapture of the escapees.
