THE Davao City Building Office has recommended the revocation of business permits of 14 establishments for lack of building permit compliance.
Davao City Building Official and City Engineer Joseph Dominic Felizarta said they have issued this recommendation after building inspectors found violations in the buildings inspected.
Felizarta said these revocations are from early January to April 2017. He said they do not recommend revocations daily but their inspectors do daily inspection.
“Pag dili mukuha ug building permit, dili mutuman, ang pinaka-dali jud namo mabuhat kay ipadala namo sa business bureau (If they will not get a building permit and not follow the plans, the easiest thing we can do is to send a letter to the business bureau),” he said.
He said they have already made many request for revocation of permit to the business bureau.
“Pero once ma-revoke na diha na sila mag-kara-kara (It's always after their business permit is revoked when establishment owners will comply with the building requirements),” he said.
He said they will also send notifications to the owner of the establishments so they will be advised that their permit will be revoked.
With regard the Mintal Gallera, marked as dilapidated by building inspectors but which the owner contests claiming no inspector ever visited them, Felizarta said that it is the responsibility of the owners to request for inspection if their place is already dilapidated.
They’ve already sent notice of renovation.
“Sila man ang dapat mag request, sila ang magsulat nga magpa-inspect sila, and magbayad sila ug building inspection fee (They should make the request, they are the ones who should write that they want their place to be inspected and pay building inspection fee),” he said.
Felizarta said to avoid similar incidents in the future, they are now asking agents to double their time in checking buildings.
“I asked them to visit every area, I’ve already asked listings,” he said.
Felizarta added that he wants the building inspectors to help building owners comply with the building code.
