1,400 inmates raise funds for Marawi City evacuees

SOME 1,4000 inmates of the district jail in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato skipped their meals to raise funds to help the displaced and affected families of Marawi City crisis.

In a Facebook post of homegrown app developer Eric Clark Su claimed that the prisoners of the jail were able to collect P28,000 intended for the victims of the month-long crisis in Marawi City.

The collected amount will be used to buy relief goods for evacuees.

According to jail warden Superintendent Simeon Dolojo, the inmates decided to skip their one meal ration and raised the amount out of their P20 per meal allocation which is used to purchase rice, noodles and sardines which they repacked as relief goods.

The relief goods will be delivered to the regional office of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Koronadal City and will send the relief goods and donations to Marawi City.

Meanwhile, for those who want to donate, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have opened bank accounts with the Land Bank of the Philippines where donations for the families of slain soldiers and displaced residents can be deposited as announced by Presidential Spokesperson Ernie Abella.

The account name is AFP Marawi Casualty with account number 00000552107128.
