15 delegates to attend child-friendly awarding

FIFTEEN delegates from the City Government of Davao and barangays will attend the awarding for the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities for the year 2016 in Manila on Tuesday, December 12.

Davao City Social Services and Development Office head Maria Luisa T. Bermudo said Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will be represented by Davao City administrator lawyer Zuleika Lopez for the event.

Bermudo said the barangay chiefs of Matina Biao, Sasa, and Maa, which were validated for the child-friendly award, will also be part of the delegation.

They will also be joined by Mintal village chief Ramon Bargamento who spearheaded a special project in their barangay.

Bermudo added that Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) President and City Council committee chair on Barangay Affairs January Duterte will also join the delegation including the Committee chairperson on Children Women and Families and Councilor Avegayle Ortiz-Omalza.

Bermudo said that the executive department will be represented by the CSSDO.

Representatives from Davao City Police (DCPO), Department of Education in Davao Region, and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 11 will also be attending.

"There will be more or less 15 of us," Bermudo said.

Also nominated with Davao City for the Child-Friendly Award for the City Category are Baguio, Bacolod, and Mandaluyong cities.

Davao City won the same award in 1998, 1999, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
