16 unregistered motorboats seized in Zamboanga City

THE government authorities confiscated 16 unregistered motorboats, including four with double engines, for violation of a city ordinance on Monday, April 17, in Zamboanga City.

Police Station 11 Chief Ariel Huesca said the unregistered motorboats were intercepted when they conducted joint seaborne patrol in the waters of R.T. Lim, Baliwasan Seaside and Campo Islam areas as part of the security measures being implemented in the city.

The seaborne patrol was jointly conducted with the Regional Maritime Unit, Regional Public Safety Battalion, City Agriculture personnel and Task Force Zamboanga.

Huesca said the owners of the impounded motorboats have violated various provisions of City Ordinance on Pumpboat registration particularly “unregistered, no body/frame markings and expired registration.”

He said the motorboats were placed in the custody of the Regional Maritime Unit 9 and will be released only by City Agriculture Office after compliance of the city ordinance. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
