16th EMA Cup hits Baguio Country Club green today

CLOSE to 120 local par busters see action Saturday, July 8, for the 16th edition of the EMA Cup Golf Tournament, a one-day fun event of Councilor Edgar M. Avila at the Baguio Country Club.

Joseph Rimando, incoming president of the beneficiary Rotary Club of Downtown Session, assured the golfers and sponsors the activity would augment the funding of their medical missions, feeding programs, scholarship programs and other worthy projects.

The proceeds will also fund the maintenance and upkeep of the Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) Ambu-Transport which has been made available for Baguio patients as transportation.

The past EMA Cup series of tournaments raised almost P5 million, a large chunk of which were turned over to the BGHMC for dialysis patients while the rest went to outreach projects of the club.

EMA Cup started in 1995 when President Fidel Ramos personally led the ceremonial tee-off at the old Camp John Hay Golf Course. It was for the benefit of the PFVR Center and Action Inc. From then on, the series went on finding its new home at the luscious greens of Baguio Country Club.

During the awarding ceremony at the club, Avila and Rimando thanked the sponsors for their unselfish support to the golf tourney.

During the awarding ceremonies, Rotary Dagupan President Ashok Vasandani will turn over for disposition by EMA Cup founder Ed Avila 10 additional wheel chairs and nebulizers pledging continued support of the projects.

Chi Jian Li reiterated his donation of eight classrooms. Two rooms have just been finished at the Elpidio Qurino Elementary School while construction started at the Quezon Hill Elementary School. (PR)
