2 dead as bike slams backhoe in Davao City

TWO riders were killed when their motorcycle crashed onto a parked backhoe in Baliok, Davao City, around 2:10 a.m., Friday.

Police Officer 1 (PO1) Carlo Pedregosa bared in the spot report that the road crash happened at Purok 4, Sitio Nalum, Baliok.

The fatalities onboard a Skygo motorcycle were identified as Rodolfo Caqueto Jr, a resident of Purok 1, Manuel Guianga, Tugbok, and the driver named Ronel Albacite, 22, a resident of Purok 8, Naming Anggalan, Tugbok.

Both died on the spot.

The Lonking brand backhoe was parked by the road shoulder in an ongoing roadwork contracted out by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The backhoe operator was identified as Edgardo Barliso Boter Jr, 36, a resident of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

The motorcycle was headed toward Lubogan, Toril on Libby road from Bago Gallera when it crashed onto the rear portion of the backhoe.

Police said there was a road sign and an early warning device.

The cadavers of the victims were brought to Angel Funeral homes, Toril, Davao City for proper disposition.
