2 die in gun attacks

TWO people were killed and one was wounded while another escaped unscathed in separate gun attacks in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police said Sunday.

Slain were Nicolas Dologuin, 54, and Michael Enriquez, 45. Wounded was Enriquez’s nephew, Juwil Alejandro, 6, and unscathed was the wife of Dologuin.

Dologuin and his wife were shot around 8:40 a.m. Saturday in Barangay Bella, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Investigation disclosed that the Cologuin couple was aboard a motorcycle on their way to Buug from Alicia town when shot by one of two men riding tandem on another motorcycle, the police said.

Cologuin was rushed to the Alicia District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, the police said.

Enriquez was shot to death around 2:30 p.m. Saturday by two unidentified gunmen along the national highway in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The police said that Enriquez was fixing his truck at his machine shop when suddenly, the suspects onboard a single motorcycle arrived and repeatedly shot him without provocation.

Enriquez’s nephew who was also at the machine shop was hit by a stray bullet and was admitted at the hospital for treatment, the police said.
