2 drug detainees escape from detention

THE police have recaptured one of the two drug detainees hours after they escaped from detention in Zamboanga City, an official announced on Tuesday, July 25.

Chief Inspector Hingming Lajaali, Police Station 8 chief, identified the recaptured detainee as Ipal Hadjail of the village of Recodo, west of this city.

Lajaali said Hadjail was recaptured around 10 p.m., Monday, July 24, several hours after he and another detainee, Darwin Paradji, escaped from detention.

Lajaali said they discovered that Hadjaill and Paradji escaped around 11 a.m., Monday, from the lock-up cell of Police Station 8.

He said they escaped after the guard on duty failed to lock the door of the detention cell after taking three detainees to the Hall of Justice to attend court hearing.

He said they have launched a manhunt to recapture Paradji, a resident of the village of Calarian.

He said they have coordinated with other law enforcement units to assist them in locating Paradji. (SunStar Philippines)
